Ten Simple Ways To Be Inspired Today

We all get caught up in our day-to-day lives. Life is busy, even when you’re having fun. Sometimes we can become overwhelmed by the day-to-day stuff and forget to be inspired. Before we know it, we start to feel a little down, and we aren’t quite sure of why.

But the great thing is that it’s possible to find inspiration and have our spirits lifted, just by taking mere moments to smell the roses (so to speak), every day.

With that in mind, here are ten simple ways to be inspired, today!

  1. Listen to a Neal Young song. I was never a huge Neal Young fan but recently I have been listening to his music more and more, and I always find myself incredibly affected by it. Neal is a man who sings and writes with passion, and you can’t help but have a bit of it rub off on you when you listen to him perform. Even his sad songs somehow manage to be joyful at the same time. My favourite Neal Young song by far is Long May You Run.
  2. Take a Bath. Yes, gentlemen, you can do this one too. It won’t make you less of a man to trade your utilitarian shower in for a nice long soak now and then. Be brave, run the water piping hot, fill the room with steam, dim the lights and then sink right in. Bring a good book with you. Maybe even light some incense.
  3. Get lost in the park. Find the biggest park in your city and let yourself wander. Bring a camera with you, take pictures. Be entertained by the antics of the local wildlife.
  4. Go for a drive without having a destination. Just give yourself time to think, to contemplate and to appreciate. Worried about gas prices? First of all, stop worrying about things you can’t change, and then go for a bike ride instead.
  5. Read this blog. At the time of this writing there are more than one hundred articles posted here, and the vast majority of them are designed to inspire and make you think.
  6. Create a dream board. Spending a few minutes (or hours) putting together a visual reminder of your goals and aspirations can be extremely therapeutic and inspirational for certain. More on dream boards here.
  7. Spend some time at your local bookstore. Wander around. Pick up anything that interests you. If you have the urge to buy something, just buy it, don’t talk yourself out of it.
  8. Go window shopping for items on your dream board. If it’s a physical item, pick it up and play with it. Think about what it will be like to have it for real. If it’s something abstract, like a feeling, or lifestyle, go somewhere where you can get a small taste of that feeling.
  9. Make a list of things you have been procrastinating about. Find a way to cross at least one item off that list, even if it’s a small one.
  10. Make popcorn on the stove. Put lot’s of butter on it. Then eat it while doing any of the above.
