What the Spanish did to this civilization is one of the great crimes of history. They burned nearly all of their books, and obliterated most of their history all with the goal of converting them to Christianity. But, as our guide pointed out, telling people human sacrifice is wrong while at the same time trying to get them to follow a god who sacrificed his only begotten son… Well, it might not work very well.

It is a real challenge to get good photos of this place, and that’s a shame. It is crawling with tourists, and it closes at 5pm. So forget about waiting for the good light.
