Iwatayama Monkey Park in Arashiyama, Kyoto is must visit destination.
It’s not a zoo, it’s not even really a nature reserve. It’s just a park on the mountain top where the monkeys roam free. Something like this could never exist in North America due to our nanny-state safety culture. Regulation would kill it instantly.
They are not tame, but they aren’t fearful either. They mostly just go about their business and pretend you’re not there.
