I have small balcony pond (actually it’s a patio pond now as we no longer live at a place with a balcony). The pond is home to at least four goldfish. I say ‘at least’ because I started with three but now I have four. One little guy managed to grow from egg to a size that would make him saleable at a pet store, despite all odds; a tank full of predators (parents included) and a heat wave that has heated up the pond way beyond what could ever be considered ideal for these cool water fish. Goldfish are not the easiest models to work with. On the plus side they’ll swim up to the surface and stare right at you, they have no fear and they’re very curious. On the other hand, they are not exactly good at holding still… ;-)
